The origin

From a classroom
to a kitchen table.

By day, Ruba taught children in Utrecht. She shaped how young minds understood the world — gave them tools to think critically, to question, to demand better.

By evening, she went home to three children who trusted her with something equally serious: what they ate.

She walked the supermarket aisles hundreds of times and found nothing she was proud to hand her youngest. So she started making her own.

The frustration
A mother's impossible search
She stood in the supermarket reading the back of a "healthy" snack. E621. Added sugar. Flavour enhancer. Preservative 211. She put it back on the shelf — every single time.
The memory
An immigrant's flavour
Growing up, food was simple — fruit dried in the sun, vegetables picked and eaten the same day. She remembered that clarity of flavour. Utrecht's shelves had none of it.
The decision
"I will make it myself"
She started in her kitchen. Sweet potato. Banana. Pineapple. Paprika. Sliced by hand, dried slowly, with nothing added. Then she brought them to three very honest judges: her children.
The verdict
Three out of three approved
Her youngest asked for another bag. Her 23-year-old photographed it. Her 26-year-old said: "Mama — this is actually something." Snackiva had its first customers.
Today
Built by women. For families.
A small team of women in Utrecht. Every bag handmade. Every ingredient organic. Zero additives — not as a marketing claim, but as a personal, non-negotiable standard.
